Engineering Faculty

Dan Jensen, PH.D.

Dr. Jensen's expertise is in innovation in the engineering design process.

He was a Professor of Engineering Mechanics at the US Air Force Academy for 21 years where he ran the mechanical design program.

He is a Scholar in Residence at the University of Colorado in Denver and a Fellow at the International Design Center (the largest design research center in the world).

He has trained hundreds of design teams in “Innovation in Design of Products, Processes, and Services”, has overseen the creation of dozens of patents, written over 135 peer-reviewed papers and has secured grants for over $4 million in research and consulting funding.

Engineering Faculty

Doug Fontes, Ph.D.

Dr. Fontes endeavors to promote impactful teaching and research in multiphase and thermal flows.

He has published relevant studies about thermal performance improvement through nanofluids, gas-liquid interface problems, plume surface interactions, and droplet dispersion.

As a teacher, he wants to inspire students to use their technical skills, 礼物, and creativity to benefit others.

He earned master and doctorate degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Uberlandia, Brazil.

Engineering Faculty

Adam Goodworth, Ph.D.

Dr. Goodworth applies expertise in interdisciplinary work that bridges biomechanics, rehabilitation, and mechanical engineering.

His most recent projects 1) characterize neural control mechanisms in children with severe cerebral palsy and 2) evaluate reactive balance in trans femoral amputees.

Dr. Goodworth received BS and MS degrees in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines before completing his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Oregon Health & Science University.

He has postdoctoral training in pathological gait, a certificate in prosthetics from the Newington Certificate Program, and worked 9 years in a Clinical Physical Therapy (DPT) program prior to joining Westmont in 2019.

Engineering Faculty

Will Allison, M.S. Lab Manager, Instructor

Will is a mechanical design engineer who focuses on maintaining the college's prototyping capabilities for the students and helping the engineering students to fabricate their designs.

Will Allison received a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, and a B.S. in Physics from Westmont College. He joined the Westmont faculty in 2021 as the machine shop manager, the physics lab manager, and as an instructor.

His specializations are in the application of software automation to design tasks, the application and adaptation of the engineering design process, and mathematical simulation of physical systems.
